Syndicate Rules

Here at Ecton Lakes we take great pride in our fishery and for this reason there are a few rules and guidelines that need to be abided by ALL members and Guests to the Complex.

PLEASE READ the following rules for all waters controlled by us, ANY individual found not abiding to these rules could face disciplinary action against themselves.

1: Membership of the syndicate is by annual invitation of the management and may be terminated at any time by their decision. Rule breaking or bad behaviour will bring instant expulsion without refund. The decision of the management is final in all cases.

2: The Main complex will not be closed for any closed season, except the River Nene (15th March - 15th June inclusive) However at certain times there may be closures on certain lakes or part of.

3: A maximum of 3 licensed rods per angler from March to October "inclusive" and a 4th margin rod can be used on Ecton or Jigsaw lakes for the 4 months of winter, Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb. Rods must be fished from one swim and not spread along the bank. Only 3 rods are permitted on Clover Lake ALL YEAR.

4: Anglers are to exercise the greatest possible care of fish.

Always use an unhooking mat spread on a flat surface rather than an uneven or hard bank side (e.g: Gravel). Be aware of watch straps, Badges, jewellery and zips as these can also cause damage to a fis. Minimise the time the fish is out of the water and handle as little as possible. Fish are only to be sacked/retained for as long as it takes to safely do photographs and certainly no longer than 1 daylight hour and in no less than 4 feet of water. Please ensure your sack/retainer cord is securely teathered and the fish is the correct way up and when you are returning the fish please hold upright in sufficient depth of water until the fish is ready to swim off. All nets, slings, sacks mats and landing nets MUST be cleaned and sun/air dried if you have fished elsewhere.

5: Particles and Particle Baits.

Incorectlly prepared particles and particle baits can KILL fish. Please ensure you follow instructions on preperation according to whichever particle your using. Where boiling is specified this must be done to ensure safe preperation and if in any doubt play safe. It is impossible to over soak. Particles are to be used in sensible moderation and "Soaked only" particles are under no circumstannces to be use. A maximum of half a kilo of peanuts per angler per 24hour periodto be used.

6: NO Bent Hooks.

Curved hooks are permitted, no fixed leads or Quicksilver/Kevalr type lines, leaders are allowed but under no circumstances is any angler allowed to use Lead core.

ALL litter to be collected before you start fishing, any angler found with litter in the swim whilst fishing or after they have left will be BANNED irrespective of weher the angler deposited the litter or no. Strictly no fires other than organised work parties.

8: NO cutting or removing of tree's, bushes, rushes, reeds etc.

9: Removal or introduction of any fish is strictly prohibited.

10: NO live baits to be brought onto the fisheries from outside and must only be used on the water body from which they were caught. Pike fishing is from October to March inclusive.

11: Due to restrictions on the owners insurance, Boats are not allowed on any of the lakes for fishing purposes and are only to be used for fishery management.

12: The sensible use of Bait Boats is allowed, this means giving consideration to all other anglers. If fishing a distant feature, island or snagetc, perform a dummy run with unbaited tackle to ensure that you are depositing your rig in a clean area andnot fishing to an unseen obstruction. FIsh safety first, Capture second.
